Call or Visit Your Members of Congress

Calling Increases Your Impact

If you live in the United States and members of the U.S. Congress are the target of a Conservation Action Network campaign, we encourage you to call your representative and senators in addition to sending a letter.

You can reach your members of Congress via the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or use our Find Your Representatives tool to get their direct phone numbers.

Visiting Greatly Increases Your Impact

Visiting your members of Congress in their district offices will greatly magnify the impact of your activism.  Use our Find Your Representatives tool to get the Web site addresses of your members of Congress and go there to find the location of their district offices.

When you visit, we recommend:

* scheduling your visit in advance,
* arriving on time, and
* being prepared with information to give to the member of Congress.

During your meeting:

* concisely state your purpose,
* be clear about what you are asking your representative to do,
* explain how the issue relates to you and your geographic area,
* stay on topic,
* provide relevant examples to make your points, and
* be courteous.

Thank you. Your efforts will make a world of difference.
